ABOUT THE WORKSHOP

Imagine creating a character with their own backstory, traits, and kaiju costume — that’s the mission of the new Creasidence Workshop.

Over two full days, participants will co-create original concepts and fully developed characters that could step straight into the wrestling ring.

This workshop is designed for creators, artists, and designers eager to explore how unique, authentic characters are born. Guided by a diverse team of mentors from the US and Japan, you’ll gain insights from different creative perspectives while working in a collaborative, supportive space curated by Creasidence.
Dive into Kaiju & Sofubi culture
Learn about the origins of Kaiju and Sofubi from legendary artist Kazumitsu Akamatsu.
Build your character’s story
Develop the backstory, traits, and goals that bring your character to life.
Transform ideas into design
With mentorship from US cartoonist Alissa Sallah, translate your concept into a full monster design.
Refine & finalize
Receive professional feedback from Japanese character designer Apapico (Hatsune Miku, Square Enix) to complete your final design.

RELEASES

Every Creasidence program ends with a collaborative release — a zine, mixtape, performance, or game concept — created and published by the participants. We release these works on Metalabel, making them accessible to everyone. Artists keep full credit, and all proceeds go directly to them. Our goal is not only to create together — but to share it with the world, right away.
